* Online trainings are delivered largely for part-time faculty unable to attend live trainings; require 2-3 hours to complete.

** Accessibility trainings will likely be required of all faculty so that documents posted online are ADA compliant; training is open to all faculty and is encouraged.

Rationale

  • CougarView Training, QM Training, Accessibility Training, and use of common course template are already required for faculty teaching online. Delays in customizing the common template have slowed that process, but beginning in the Fall, all colleges should have access to it, and it will automatically be provided for them.
  • New training requirements are for Grade Book and Best Practices in Instructional Media. All faculty need to be skilled in the use of Grade Book because of instructional continuity. It is also helpful to the students.
  • Best Practices in Instructional Media will be required of those teaching online because it seems to be the most obvious step forward for increasing student engagement and learning.

Training Delivery

  • Hitting the Highlights in CougarView:  Welcome Week sessions and by departments
  • Quality Matters and Accessibility Training:  As currently delivered (scheduled workshops / Online at QM)
  • Grade Book and Best Practices in Instructional Media:  By academic departments.
